Ayako Otsuka
Born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1950.
She has been familiar with embroidery since she was a child, working with her mother, who is an embroidery artist of Japanese and European embroidery. After working as a flight attendant at KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, she obtained a qualification as an embroidery instructor, and in April 2005 opened an embroidery class called ``Embroidery Studio ECRU'' under her direct instruction. She introduced techniques such as stamp work and Schwalm embroidery to Japan, which have recently been in the spotlight.
While working to popularize embroidery and train the next generation, she is active in a wide range of fields, including creating advertisements, appearing on TV, publishing magazines, and books such as author books and supervised books.
She is the author of many books, including ``Ayako Otsuka's White Thread Embroidery'' (NHK Publishing), ``Ayako Otsuka's Flower Embroidery'' (Takahashi Shoten), and ``White Thread Embroidery'' (Nippon Vogue).
