The author, Ueki Tomoko (Harinoto), is a popular koginsashi artist with unique original designs. It introduces many delightful koginsashi, such as apples, iron bottles, kokeshi, cherries, itaya horses, and red beko, inspired by the six prefectures of Tohoku. New local designs of fried shrimp, corn and peanuts have been added. There are also pieces with classic designs that have a sense of ease of piercing and beauty of use, such as 12 kinds of bags with traditional patterns and a fukusa for holding a ceremonial bag. About 50 small works are listed. Lessons on the basics of koginsashi and how to make Gamaguchi are included.
