A lesson from a popular picture book author

Even beginners can have fun drawing!

This is a book on how to draw small watercolor illustrations by popular picture book author Egashira Michiko.

When you think of watercolor painting, you think of something serious and difficult... don't you? This book is designed to allow beginners who are picking up watercolor paints for the first time to draw cute works.

First of all, for people and animals, which are the most difficult to draw, the sketches are printed on the pages. You don't need any drawing skills if you copy or print and trace them. The sketches can also be downloaded as PDF files. In addition, we have prepared an appendix page at the end of the book with the sketch printed on watercolor paper. You can cut it out and enjoy drawing as if it were a watercolor coloring book.

Basic watercolor techniques are also explained with cute illustrations. The surface painted with a gradation turns into a beautiful sunset... and so on. You can master the basics while having fun drawing various motifs. In addition, all the works published are accompanied by video explanations. You can access them from the QR code.

In addition to the small illustrations, we will also introduce ideas for using them in your daily life, such as postcards to send to someone, wreaths that are fun to decorate, and tags to attach to gifts.

The art materials used are Holbein transparent watercolor paints. They are easy to obtain and use, so they are recommended for beginners. This book was supervised by Holbein Art Materials. Please try using transparent watercolors to create illustrations that look like they come from a picture book.
